What an online store needs before it launches
· 2 min read · By the SYNTVEX team
Most online stores that struggle do not have a traffic problem first. They have a problem with product pages, checkout or trust. Here is what to get right before you launch.
Product pages that answer questions
Good photos, a clear price, available sizes or variants, and a delivery estimate. Write your own descriptions instead of pasting the manufacturer's text, both for customers and for search engines.
A short checkout
- Let people buy without creating an account
- Ask only for what you need to deliver the order
- Show the total, including delivery, before the last step
- Make sure it works smoothly on a phone
Payment options people know
In India that usually means UPI, cards and net banking, and cash on delivery if it suits your products. Use a recognised payment gateway so card details never touch your own server.
Trust signals
- Clear return and refund policy
- Real contact details and a working phone number
- Customer reviews on product pages
- Your business name, and GST details if they apply to you, on invoices and in the footer
Tools for running the store
Check that you can add products, change prices, update stock and manage orders easily. If the admin panel is awkward, you will feel it every day. Also make sure customers get an order confirmation by email or WhatsApp.
Launch checklist
- Place a real test order and a real refund
- Test on at least two phones
- Check that every page has a title and description
- Set up analytics so you can see where orders come from
